Living organisms need nutrients to sustain themselves. Single cell creatures obtain nutrients from the surroundings whereas, multicellular organisms have specialized structures to work to generate bodily fuel. Among the species, animals have two kinds of methods to satiate these requirements. Some animals ingest and digest food whereas some like tapeworms reside in the digestive system of other animals and take in nutrients from them.

Human body has many internal systems to take care of particular functions and perform them to, as much perfection as possible. The major function is to digest the food that we ingest. The Digestive System takes care of it and aids in the digestion of food to provide as with energy for living. This fuel provides us with the energy required for activities of life, like work, play, exercise, etc.
